Deluge only download certain files

I'm probably missing something obvious. Re: Downloading individual files from a torrent Post by Cas » Mon Jun 18, pm I answered this same question on AskUbuntu : This is a limitation of magnet uris vs torrent files.

Magnet uris only contain the torrent's infohash and optional the tracker and torrent name, whereas a torrent file will also contain the metadata about the torrent's files. The only way to retrieve the torrent's metadata when using magnets is by connecting and downloading from a peer, which takes time. In future workarounds for this may well be implemented but currently you will have to add the magnet, wait for the metadata from peers, then choose the files you wish to download.

I did see that after the torrent started, the files were listed individually; but there still were no check-boxes or other seemingly obvious way to select individual files, etc. There were little file icons, but clicking on them didn't seem to do anything. I'll take another look though. Re: Downloading individual files from a torrent Post by xhtml » Wed Aug 29, pm You've probably discovered this by now but for anyone else with the same question, when you add the torrent to Deluge, a list of files is shown with checkboxes to allow you to disable those you are aren't interested in downloading.

You should limit your number of connections because it take resources to keep track of each connection, and why track connections that are giving you a trickle if any data? You can, by setting the per-torrent maximums to less than the global maximums, prevent a single torrent from using up all the allocated bandwidth and forcing all of the other auto-managed torrents to pause.

But there is no advantage to increasing your number of active torrents. Indeed, by letting the torrent with the best speeds dominate, it will finish as quickly as possible and then stop competing for resources with the other torrents in the queue. By setting "active downloading" less than the "total active" you can make sure that you are seeding completed torrents at all times.

Deluge always prioritizes downloads over uploads, so seeding can be set the same as total but all of your downloading slots will still get used. Powered by Trac 1. Login Preferences About Trac Register. Download in other formats: Plain Text. You may never see this many connections depending on your per-torrent and active-torrent limits.

Let libtorrent manage this for you. It will open more upload slots as necessary to utilize available upstream bandwidth. Be careful of setting this too high--it can strangle your browsing, media streaming, etc. Unless you've got a Windows install with limited half-open connections. When you set your per-torrent connections and such to a reasonable number, you will establish reliable connections with plenty of peers.
